Kneeling wrist stretch

Kneel with your fingers pointing back toward your knees and gently shift your weight back to stretch the forearms and wrists after hand-supported work.

How to do it

  1. 01Kneel and place your palms on the floor in front of your knees, turning your hands so your fingers point back toward your knees.
  2. 02Keep your elbows straight and your palms flat on the floor.
  3. 03Slowly shift your hips back toward your heels until you feel a moderate stretch along the inside of your forearms, never a sharp pain.
  4. 04Breathe slowly; for the second half you can turn your hands over onto their backs to stretch the outer forearms, using less pressure.

Common mistakes

  • Palms lifting off the floor — lean back less so your whole hand stays down.
  • Putting too much weight on your hands — keep most of it on your knees and lean only gently.
  • Bouncing to go deeper — hold still and relax into it with your breath.
