Stage 1Timedalternating sides
Skater step
Step wide to the side and sweep the other leg behind you like a speed skater, raising your heart rate without jumping.
How to do it
- 01Stand with your feet hip-width apart, knees soft, hips back slightly and chest up.
- 02Take a long step to the side, shifting your weight onto that leg and bending the knee.
- 03Sweep the other leg diagonally behind the standing leg, tapping the toes lightly, and swing your arms across your body for balance.
- 04Push off the standing leg to step to the other side — alternate every rep at a steady rhythm, breathing steadily.
Common mistakes
- Standing knee caving in — keep it tracking over your toes.
- Standing stiff and taking small steps — bend your knees, lower your hips and step wider.
- Leaning on the back leg — it only taps; the standing leg carries your weight.
